The EES Consulting professional staff includes individuals with broad backgrounds in the regulatory, financial and operational aspects of natural gas utilities and commodity supply markets. We offer a variety of services to both utilities and utility customers. These services include commodity supply market analysis, resource optimization, supply portfolio development and acquisition strategies, price arbitrage discovery and evaluation, contract investigation, administration and audit capabilities as well as alternative market and service evaluations.

Energy Usage Analysis
Utilities, energy marketers, and energy service providers are offering large utility customers a variety of opportunities to reduce their operating costs through energy purchase, delivery, and operating efficiencies. The advent of deregulation and direct access, or customer choice of energy suppliers, has heightened the awareness of customers regarding their energy use. Those that are eligible are seeking out and contracting with lower price suppliers. However, many customers are also taking advantage of rate options, and additional products and services. EES Consulting has a successful track record of evaluating these options for large utility customers as well as assisting utilities in providing these services.

Services provided by EES Consulting include analysis of existing and potential rate structures, client negotiations on rate issues, facility energy audits, RFPs for energy supply and services, bid evaluations and recommendations of award, contract administration and management, and energy strategy development.

Deregulation and Benefit Potential
Deregulation has created opportunities for improving operating costs but at the risk of being adversely affected by market volatility. EES Consulting has been increasingly involved in providing expertise to firms that are beginning to explore their "Direct Access" opportunities. For some, the requirement is more broad brush, such as evaluating whether the particular regulatory framework that establishes their deregulated environment will actually yield savings. A notable example of this was the California deregulation process, whose potential savings were significantly affected, in the short term, by stranded cost recovery considerations. For others, the issue is more specific, such as estimating the tangible benefits of pursuing Direct Access as well as appropriate strategies to achieve maximum savings. These services are valuable to utilities and large industrial customers seeking both guidance in the new energy markets, and the technical expertise to accurately evaluate competing opportunities.
