Our staff includes engineers registered in the province of Alberta and in the states of Washington, Oregon, California, and Alaska. We offer a variety of engineering services to both utilities and end use customers. These services include energy resource development and construction, energy usage and delivery studies and implementation, environmental and engineering due diligence assessments, system valuation studies, and engineer of record activities.
Resource Development and Assessment EES Consulting has provided a range of engineering services from initial conception to project completion. EES Consulting has provided services that include initial feasibility studies, project finance and permitting support, acquisition of equipment, fuel supply and transportation, contract administration, site construction management, and overall project management on behalf of the owner. These services are valuable to both utilities and large utility customers seeking cost-effective options to standard power supply and delivery.
Energy Usage Analysis Utilities, energy marketers, and energy service providers are offering large utility customers a variety of opportunities to reduce their operating costs through energy purchase, delivery, and operating efficiencies. The advent of deregulation and direct access, or customer choice of energy suppliers, has heightened the awareness of customers regarding their energy use. Those that are eligible are seeking out and contracting with lower price suppliers. However, many customers are also taking advantage of rate options, and additional products and services. EES Consulting has a successful track record of evaluating these options for utility customers as well as assisting utilities in providing these services.
Services provided by EES Consulting include analysis of existing and potential rate structures, client negotiations on rate issues, facility energy audits, RFPs for energy supply and services, bid evaluations and recommendations of award, contract negotiation, administration and management, and energy strategy development.
Environmental and Engineering Due Diligence As part of EES Consulting's work involving acquisition of utility service territory and assets by other utilities, we provide the necessary third party technical review and evaluation of the purchased assets. This review, or due diligence, is required by project financiers and local regulatory authorities as part of the procurement process.
EES Consulting staff is experienced in the field inspection of transmission and distribution systems, substations, operating and maintenance facilities, general facilities and other general assets. In addition, EES Consulting provides an assessment of engineering, operating, and maintenance practices by inspecting records, reports, and logs, and by interviewing personnel. Environmental assessments are performed through field inspections, review of environmental reporting procedures and records, and analysis of pertinent environmental regulations. These due diligence reports are prepared to effectively convey the technical analysis of the system to a diverse group of interested parties including financiers, utility management, and regulators.
Engineer of Record Activities EES Consulting also provides Engineer of Record services on behalf of utility management, ownership and financiers. Engineer of Record services are necessary to provide utility stakeholders with immediate and continuous engineering counsel on the operation of their systems. Services similar to those provided for due diligence reporting have been conducted on behalf of utilities requiring third party engineering review and assessment of their system. EES Consulting has provided utility system asset valuation services through comprehensive replacement cost estimate studies. In addition, EES Consulting provides reviews of utility organization and management structures, power supply and reserves, and revenue and financing adequacy.
